Delivering Trust to a Trustless Environment: CoolBitX and MetaCert Partner to End Cryptocurrency Address Phishing Attacks

31 July 2018 – During Blockchain’s hottest current event, Hybrid Summit, hardware wallet developer CoolBitX announced that it has partnered with security software company, MetaCert, to deliver unmatched security and transparency to cryptocurrency transactions. This partnership marks an industry first: CoolWallet S hardware wallet users are now shielded from fraudulent address schemes.

CoolBitX will integrate the MetaCert Protocol’s address registry directly into the CoolWallet S mobile app to display visual indicators when inputting cryptocurrency addresses. These visual indicators will alert users to potential phishing attacks, as well as provide peace of mind when sending their cryptocurrency to verified addresses. In addition to the registry integration, CoolBitX will be the first hardware wallet to support the MetaCert Protocol’s Token in a cold storage solution.

The CoolWallet S is a wireless hardware wallet with the size and thinness of a credit card. It is made for iOS — including the iPhone, the iPad — and any Android device. The CoolWallet S offers offline private key cold storage, cryptocurrency exchange capabilities, and free over-the-air updates for future coin, token, and ICO support. Due to its AES256 cryptographic pairing, mobile operating environment, and 2+1 Factor Authentication, the CoolWallet S provides even more security than any other USB hardware wallet available on the market today.

The MetaCert Protocol is an open security protocol for the Internet, storing trust and reputation information about Uniform Resource Identifiers (URIs) – including domain names, crypto wallet addresses, social media accounts, and more. The Protocol’s registry, built on the Ethereum blockchain, helps identify cyber threats such as phishing, malware, online brand protection, child safety, and news credibility.

The partnership between CoolBitX and MetaCert delivers a much-needed address verification system for a mass cryptocurrency user base. Currently, each address must be carefully examined by the user themselves, which is slow and prone to human error. As the number of cryptocurrency addresses increase, so does the need for a more scalable system to protect millions of crypto transactions. The CoolBitXMetaCert partnership marks the first blockchain project to successfully achieve this goal. Learn more at coolwallet.io or follow them on Twitter: twitter.com/coolwallet.
